Bengaluru, 5 June

All arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the SIR of electoral rolls, and 72 per cent of the mapping work has already been completed across Bengaluru city, District Election Officer and Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has said.

Directions have been issued to complete the remaining mapping work at the earliest, he said.

According to him, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits and collect the required information through prescribed forms. Citizens are requested to extend their full cooperation for this exercise.

The collected data will subsequently be verified and reconciled before the publication of the draft electoral roll, he said in a statement.

The Election Commission of India has undertaken the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme to ensure that no eligible voter is deprived of participating in the electoral process and that no ineligible names remain on the electoral rolls, Rao said.

The revision exercise is being carried out in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission, he said.

Rao said that all necessary measures will be taken to include every eligible voter in the electoral roll and to prepare an error-free voter list.

Citizens are requested to extend their cooperation in this important exercise.
